A Brief History
Library service has always been important for residents of Highland. From 1994 to 2001 residents of Highland and Alpine were served by a joint-use facility at Mountain Ridge Jr. High. In 2008 Highland City built a new city hall and dedicated a portion of the building for a city library. The Highland City Library opened October 25, 2008 with a collection of about 25,000 books. The Library now houses over 40,000 items, provides access to over 200,000 e-books/audiobooks, and provides a wide range of programs for all ages.
In 2018 the Library became a full member of the Northern Utah County Library Cooperative (NUCLC) that allows patrons to check out items at American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Lehi and Eagle Mountain libraries. In April 2025 the Highland Library, along with American Fork and Pleasant Grove, formed the Timpanogos Library Consortium which provides courier service between the three libraries.
