For some time, the Highland City Council has been looking into the possibility of selling some park land and using the proceeds to begin to develop the park next to Mountain Ridge Junior High School.
In January 2019, City Council approved a Master Plan for the park which included an asphalt parking lot, 27-court pickleball complex, 2 multi-use fields, an all abilities playground, a pavilion, restrooms, and walking trails. In April 2019, due to feedback from the Resident Survey and Open Houses, construction costs, and other information, City Council voted to revise the Master Plan. The new plan will be based off of the Resident Survey and Open House feedback. The amended plan will be brought back to a future Council Meeting and public Open House.
