Cloudy Drinking Water

Occasionally you may get a glass of water and it looks cloudy; maybe milky is a better term. After a few seconds it miraculously clears up! The cloudiness could be caused by the water in the distribution pipes being under a bit more pressure causing tiny air bubbles in the water.  This often occurs when we are either starting a well or adjusting the pumping of a well.  It should not occur long-term and may not be noticeable in all areas of the City.

Perhaps you have also noticed white flakes floating in your ice water?  Calcium and magnesium carbonate, both of which are found in hard water, appear as white flakes when water is frozen or boiled. Both are harmless, but if you want perfect, flake-free ice cubes, you will need to soften your water.
